Graphic Design Master II:Massimo Vignelli

Massimo Vignelli (born 1931 in Milan, Italy) is a designer who has done work in a number of areas ranging from package design to furniture design to public signage to showroom design through Vignelli Associates, which he co-founded with his wife, Lella. He has said, "If you can design one thing, you can design everything," and this is reflected in his broad range of work.

Silkscreen Printing

This was a really exciting thing that we finally start our first silkscreen printing. Actually it's not that easy and there are still so many skills we have to practice. Next one will be better. After I check out some print work on the internet, I found that it's really interesting and it can be done in colors! I really wanna try to have a colorful one.

Alexey Brodovitch was a Russian-born photographer, designer and instructor who is most famous for his art direction of fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar from 1938 to 1958.

Printing Class

The picture is everyone's cutting alphabet.I think this class is very interesting! We learn a lot. When everyone's cutting alphabet printed out, I feel very pride of ourselves, because that means we can do it! We also learn a lot of things that we do not know before the class. For example, how to mix the ink, print the paper, wash the board and so on. I feel there are more and more passion in the print class. I hope we can become print master!

Tour To The 日星鑄字廠

It was really a fantastic trip that we all impressed by the beauty of the work. The factory we visited was the last one in Taipei, the other one was in Kaohsiung. It was influenced hard by the modern printing factory so that kind of business decreased very fast in this years. The shopkeeper said that his biggest plan for right now is let Pb wordtype factory reborn. However, it's really not the most effecient way to print, it contained so much tradition and cultural treasure. We should all respect of it and use our heart to feel the beauty of the work.

In this project, we learn how to use good of the material what we can get. I think it is difficult to make the environment very beautiful or fantastic with using just the white color, so I think this project is very interesting.
